World of Objects project

The 3rd genre project would be the 'World of Objects'. This project is about seeing the objects that exist around you.

Looking at this 3rd genre it excite me as I know I could do this project well enough as I love to take still life images and just random stuff.

Thus I choose object that relates to my life.
- cigarettes (not that I addicted to it, I even rarely smoke!)
- Ipod, MacBook (technologies)
- Energy drinks
- School books/dictionaries
- Sweets
- Shoes
- Wine

I made up a small studio using white cardboard, small table and table lamp. Results:

Human Condition project part 2

Last week studio class, Paul didn't have much time to review my picture or I could say he didn't review my picture at all as there is not enough time or whatso.

Thus me myself took the liberty to shoot another batch of Human Condition project.

Much of brain storming, I wrote down a list what kind of shoot can I take for this 2nd project and then came out with theme or something.

- Park (relaxing)
- Bubble blowing
- Balloon playing
- Mirror reflection
- Beach walking during sunset
- Loneliness
- Smoking
- Listening to music
- Sitting on the fence
- Sitting + shadow

So by listing all these ideas, I thought I could came up with a theme for the 2nd project which I kinda did but I don't have the word to describe it. From the list, I could describe the kind of picture that I would like to shoot which is relax-ness, chilling and something similar. Also its what I would do during my free time, when I am not working or in uni. However to describe this to Paul won't be successful for a person who are bad in describing.

Thus to begin with the project for the 2nd time, I ask my friends to model it for me, it's cool but not as I don't have to 'paparazzi-ing' people with long focus lens.

These is what the results from the shoot.

Human Condition project part 1

In the 2nd genre project #2 we are given the task to shoot 'Human Condition'. Mostly what I understand generally is that we need to shoot some what portrait that involve human. What I mean is human portrait. Like I am good in taking random portrait of people but apparently we need to choose a theme. Meh.

So from all the theme given / suggested, I still stuck with no idea and creativity for a couple of days. Doing research on relevant artist given is still a no no as most of the artist is either using props, weird picture that I could never relate of and obviously enough nudity. Erm, being an amateur photographer that doesn't really help.

Last minute before I need to show my shot, few ideas came to mind.
(1) Social class
(2) Childhood memory
(3) Homosexuality

I asked for my roommate to be my model for the last minute ideas so that Paul won't practically kill me on the next tutorial.

Sense of Place project part 3

Paul evaluate my picture and kinda not satisfy with what I had? Maybe. Not sure. But from the look of it, YES.

Whats my idea on the first project if I haven't really told you is that I wanna shoot the church picture nearby my place because of the unique architecture that represent a church. In addition to that, the small small symbol or item around the church. And also I went to St. Patrick's Cathedral, Scots' Church (If I'm not mistaken) and St. Michael.

So this is pretty much what I took.

The above is from the Church near my place, I think the name is Christ Church.

The above is from St. Patrick.

And I went in St. Michael. The inside of the church are pretty amazing. But it is so quiet as well. Like practically everyone is praying, and I don't even know whether photography are allowed. If so, the place is darn quiet that I don't even dare to capture any picture as my camera makes the click click sounds. So yeah, guess I am not that brave or I just don't want to be told off!

Relevant Artists for #1 Project

Uta Barth
Uta Barth's photographic works question the traditional functions of pictures and our expectations of them. By photographing in ordinary anonymous places - in simple rooms, city streets, airports and fields - Barth uses what is natural and unstudied to shift attention away from the subject matter, and redirect focus to a consciousness of the processes of perception and the visceral and intellectual pleasures of seeing.

Rut Blees Luxemberg
Rut Blees Luxemburg is well known for her investigations into the urban landscape. Through her work she explores how the cityscape both reflects and affects the human condition. Luxemburg takes photographs at night on the edge of the centre of the city, long exposures allow her to use the light emanating from the street only – from office blocks and street lights.
The resulting works are strange and beautiful, sometimes immediately recognisable whilst others are almost abstract, flooded with green and golden light. Urban landscapes often seem threatening and dehumanising, but through these poetic and seductive works Luxemburg draws us in, makes us look again and hints at new ways of seeing and interacting with the cities we inhabit.

Candida Hofer
Candida Hofer uses her camera to note repeated forms within public spaces such as furniture, lighting fixtures, ceiling or floor tiles, chairs, and tables, creating patterns and a sense of orderliness. Höfer also often emphasizes the ironic by drawing the viewer’s attention to things out of place.

Sense of Place project part 2

Fine, so I FINALLY did my research. These are some picture that I wanted to try to shoot. They are awesome possum. But I ain't that pro, and I have no time to go to search these kinda places, that's true OKAY.

Sense of Place project part 1

I've been not lazying but busy doing nothing that I have no time doing my Visual Diary for my Photomedia Imaging subject.

So for the first second week of the semester we ALREADY have project to do. Not like I am complaining just whining. I mean to be a good photographer ideally is to do 200 shots per week. That's what I usually do for hobby anyway, so no problem-o.

Our Genre Project #1 is A 'Sense of Place' where we need to consider the kind of space/place/location/site that we could photograph to explore whatever theme that we choose.

So me, as a casual photographer, likes to capture random shots. But in this project I choose to take shots of Church. Why? Because there is a church down the road from where I live so I don't have to go too far. Nah, actually because I like the architecture of the church, I mean most church have unique architecture, and also the symbol of spirituality really catch my attention. In addition to that, I am more of night photographer and at night, the church looks stunningly creepy-ly awesome due to some street light and moonlight.

I took some picture of the church and had few picture that I really like but because I shot in RAW not RAW + JPEG I cannot really open it. Meh. But I'll show you. My point is I am not as happy on my shot. Why? Maybe it doesn't look professional enough. Why? Because I am too busy (lazy) to do my research.
